Dharma Talk 21 | Birth, Life, and Death

Where were you before you were born? Where do you go after you die? What is the purpose of life? How can Zen practice help us find the answers to these questions?

In this month’s dharma talk we will learn how to use Zen koans and meditation to help find the underlying truth about ourselves which informs us of the answers to these questions. Led by Zen Master Sebastian Rizzon, the session begins with an introduction to Mind-Heart breathing, Zen Koans and mantra meditation.

Following the meditation, Master Rizzon guides us to a deeper understanding of birth, life, death, and the Buddhist concept of emptiness (also called śūnyatā). He explains how our mind can reveal a deeper understanding about the nature of ourselves. Offering insights into the origins of our universe while acknowledging the limitations of our language, math, and science. Ultimately, he reveals an intuitive path that you can follow through love and compassion that will lead you to the awakening of enlightenment.

After the Dharma Talk, Zen Master Sebastian Rizzon takes questions from the audience.
